The group organises rambles (approx 4-15 miles) on a regular programme throughout the year, during the week and at weekends. Our walks are not meant to be endurance tests or record attempts, but a day of leisure, pleasure and enjoyment. There are occasional weekends away and a programme of social events.
As a group, we assist with the RA's aims of monitoring our local network of rights of ways, ensuring they are way marked, clear of overgrowth and other obstructions in order to keep them in use for all. This work is carried out in co-operation with the local authorities. In addition, group representatives have assisted Yate Town Council in the development to publication of two books of local walks and other walks leaflets based on Chipping Sodbury and Dodington parishes.
Members can get involved in whichever area of the group's activities they wish, be it long distance or 'challenge' walks, footpath maintenance, social events, leading walks... or just coming along on a walk.
Membership of the RA brings with it automatic eligibility to join the activities of any local RA group. Why not take a look at our programme to see what interests you?
